Terrarium Animal Care
Caring for terrarium animals calls for a specific approach that takes into account the species' natural habitat – temperature, humidity, lighting and how the space is laid out. The foundation is a properly equipped terrarium with a suitable substrate, hiding spots, branches, rocks or water areas. Regulating temperature and UVB lighting plays a key role, affecting digestion, activity levels and vitamin D₃ synthesis. Feeding varies by species – from insects to greens to frozen food or pellets – and vitamin and mineral supplementation is often needed too. Regular terrarium maintenance, good hygiene and monitoring the animal's health help prevent illness. It's also important to get to know the behaviour and needs of the particular species, to ensure its long-term health and wellbeing.
