BARF for Dogs
BARF is a method of feeding domestic carnivores in a natural way. In our view, it's the most natural and best way to feed carnivorous pets, provided a few basic principles of a balanced diet are followed. The reasoning is that dogs evolved from wolves, still have essentially the same digestion, and their digestive systems are similar. A dog's teeth are still adapted for catching and eating prey. The canines are used to kill prey, while the molars crush both meat and bone. Wolves would certainly have supplemented their diet with fruit, grass, herbs and roots too, just as we now add fruit, vegetables and herbs to meat and bones. This combination of foods provides everything the dog needs – fats, protein, carbohydrates, vitamins, minerals and fibre.
