Dried Insects for Dogs
Dried insects for dogs are a modern, sustainable alternative to traditional animal protein, offering both nutritional and environmental benefits. Insects are a natural source of high-quality protein, healthy fats, minerals and fibre, which is why they're increasingly found in treats, complementary feeds and complete dog food.
This type of protein is also hypoallergenic, which is especially valued by owners of dogs with food allergies or sensitive digestion. Dried insects, most commonly mealworms or black soldier fly larvae, are easy to digest, gentle on the body, and suitable even for puppies or older dogs. Another ecological benefit is their low carbon footprint – insect farming uses a fraction of the water, space and energy required by traditional livestock farming.
Dried insects can be given on their own as a treat, or as part of kibble and wet food. Thanks to their mild taste and appealing aroma, most dogs happily accept them. They're not just nutritious, then, but a tasty way to add variety to the diet, while also supporting a more sustainable way of feeding our pets.
