Lucky Reptile Bio Calcium - Crushed Cuttlebone 1 kg
Crushed cuttlebone pieces. Cuttlebone is a natural source of calcium.
Calcium accounts for approximately 41% of its content; cuttlebone also contains a range of other marine minerals. This completely natural source of calcium is very easily digestible, far better than artificial calcium (calcium carbonate).
A great advantage of cuttlebone is its durability – this is practically unlimited, provided the cuttlebone is stored in a dry place.
Cuttlebone should always be available in the terrarium in a separate dish. Reptiles themselves recognise when they lack calcium, and if given the opportunity, they will make up the deficit in a suitable form. Cuttlebone is ideal for this.
The Bio Calcium range from Lucky Reptile offers cuttlebone in three different forms – whole cuttlebone, crushed pieces and powder. Whole cuttlebone is suitable for large lizards and land tortoises, crushed pieces are suitable for smaller specimens. Powdered cuttlebone is intended for very small lizards and tortoises, and can be used to dust feeder insects, vegetables and pelleted mixes.
So what exactly is cuttlebone? It is the remnant of the internal shell of cephalopods, found today in cuttlefish (Sepia officinalis). This shell allows cuttlefish to move, as it contains air chambers into which the cuttlefish can draw water and then expel it again. It is made of calcium carbonate, which is why it has such a high calcium content.
