The product's unique composition chemically binds the oxygen radicals that form during inflammatory processes, speeds up the wound-healing process, reduces the risk of complicated healing, and reduces pain in the wound. It forms a surface layer that acts as a second skin, helping to protect against external influences and creating a favourable environment for the healing of both acute and chronic wounds (e.g. post-operative wounds and other skin damage). A moist environment for wound treatment is both a modern and a fundamental principle of wound care. Stable moisture in the wound prevents scab formation and thereby helps speed up the healing process.

Why use a gel to treat wounds?

Thanks to its properties, ALAVIS™ Hemagel has been shown to:

chemically bind the oxygen radicals that form during inflammatory processes
create an optimal pH in the wound, thereby supporting healing
the proven gel structure prevents gel particles from being released into the wound with subsequent irritation
add moisture to the wound
prevent the wound from drying out and forming a scab
have an absorbent capacity, thereby cleaning contaminated wounds
reduce wound pain
support wound closure through scarring
soften and improve the appearance of the scar even during treatment
have an anti-inflammatory effect

Composition:

ALAVIS™ Hemagel is a hydrophilic methacrylate gel based on a cross-linked copolymer of 2-hydroxyethyl methacrylate containing polymer-bound sterically hindered amino groups, developed by the Institute of Macromolecular Chemistry of the Czech Academy of Sciences.

Method of use:

Clean the wound of mechanical impurities, such as dust particles or residue from previous dressing materials, which could subsequently irritate and damage the wound.

Open the tube by piercing it with the reversed cap.

Apply a small amount of gel over the entire wound bed. The gel adheres to the wound bed and gradually absorbs secretions and other fluids from the wound.

Apply the gel as needed, at least once every 24 hours

For a stronger effect, it is advisable to cover the wound with a sterile square, preferably made of non-woven fabric. Fixation materials should extend approximately 1cm beyond the edge of the wound. Change the dressing as needed, at intervals of no more than 24 hours, until the problem clears up. For infected wounds, we recommend changing the dressing more frequently.

Applying the gel does not replace the administration of antibiotics for severely infected wounds.

The gel's effect is shown by swelling. The gel's unique technology prevents it from sticking to the wound, allowing it to be removed very easily and painlessly by gentle wiping.

The product is self-sterilising – it can be used throughout its shelf life once opened. No side effects such as allergies, increased pain, or similar, nor any other contraindications, have been reported when using ALAVIS™ Hemagel. The product must not be used after the expiry date shown on the tube. If any undesirable side effects occur (increased pain, redness, etc.), discontinue treatment and consult your vet. The product is not intended for internal use.
