A well-run aquarium isn’t just about fish and water – it’s a complex ecosystem where every element plays its part. Filtration, lighting, temperature, water chemistry, fish nutrition and design – all of it has to work together as a whole. An experienced aquarist can spot a healthy aquarium at a glance – clear water, vivid fish colours, lush plants and active, thriving inhabitants are the result of proper care and quality equipment.
What you’ll find in our aquatics section
Our range covers everything you need to run a successful aquarium – from the very first set-up to everyday care:
- Aquarium fish food – flake, granulated, frozen and live food for every kind of aquarium fish. The right diet is the foundation of health, vitality and vibrant colouring.
- Aquarium equipment – filters, lighting, heaters, air pumps and pumps that ensure optimal conditions for aquarium life. Quality equipment is the heart of every successful aquarium.
- Fish health products and water treatment – conditioners, vitamins, medications and products for adjusting the water’s chemical parameters. Correct water chemistry is key to preventing disease and ensuring your fish a long life.
- Aquarium decorations – rocks, roots, plants, ships, castles and dozens of other decorations for creating a unique underwater world. Decorations aren’t just decorative – they give fish hiding places and a natural environment that reduces stress.
- Sand and gravel – substrates for the aquarium floor in various grain sizes, colours and materials. The right substrate supports plant growth, filtration and natural fish behaviour.
- Aquarium cleaning and water treatment – water-treatment chemicals, algae-removal products and tools for cleaning glass and filters. Regular maintenance is the foundation of a clean, healthy aquarium.
- Aquarium plant care – fertilisers, CO2 systems, substrates and lighting for planted-tank enthusiasts. Live plants naturally filter the water, produce oxygen and create a natural environment for fish.
- Aquarium accessories – thermometers, gravel cleaners, nets, scrapers and other tools for everyday care. The right accessories make routine maintenance easier and save time.
- Marine aquarium supplies – specialised equipment, products and decorations for demanding marine aquarists. A marine aquarium is the pinnacle of the hobby, requiring specific equipment.
For beginners and experienced aquarists alike
Setting up your first aquarium and not sure where to start? The basics are correctly sized filtration, a stable temperature, suitable lighting and patience while the biological filter matures. Never add fish to a new aquarium straight after filling it – the biological filter needs 3–4 weeks to build up the beneficial bacteria that break down waste. Adding fish too early is the most common cause of fish loss among beginner aquarists.
Experienced aquarists will appreciate our range for demanding biotope or planted aquariums – from specialised CO2 systems and high-performance filters to products for marine aquariums with live corals.
Common fishkeeping mistakes and how to avoid them
- Overfeeding – the most common cause of declining water quality. Only feed fish the amount they’ll eat within 2–3 minutes. Leftover food rotting on the bottom is the main source of nitrates.
- Overstocking – too many fish for the tank’s volume overloads the filtration and causes stress. A rough rule of thumb: 1 cm of fish length per litre of water – but this is only a rough guide, as it also depends on the species and how they live.
- Neglecting water changes – a regular partial water change of 20–30% of the volume each week removes accumulated nitrates and replenishes the water’s mineral content. Without regular water changes, water quality gradually declines even with excellent filtration.
- Insufficient filtration – the filter should turn over the entire tank volume 3–5 times an hour. An undersized filter can’t keep up with the biological load, and the water turns cloudy.
- Incorrect temperature – sudden temperature changes are stressful for fish and weaken their immunity. A heater with a thermostat keeps the temperature stable without fluctuations.
The world of fishkeeping is endlessly varied and fascinating – whether you’re drawn to the vivid colours of tropical fish, the calm elegance of a biotope aquarium, or the demanding challenge of a marine tank with corals. In our range you’ll find everything you need for an aquarium you’ll be proud of.
