Belcando Brand

Belcando is a premium German dog food brand built on fresh meat, functional superfoods and its own production process with full quality control. The range is divided into several clear lines – Baseline for everyday nutrition, Classic for active, family dogs, Grain-Free for sensitive dogs, Single Protein for dogs with allergies, and Mastercraft with an extra-high proportion of fresh meat. Alongside dry food, Belcando also offers tins made from a single type of meat, pouches with a soft, juicy texture, toppings to add flavour to kibble and boost food intake, plus treats in both functional and training varieties. Belcando was created in Germany as a specialised brand of the family-run company BEWITAL petfood, which has been building a reputation as a maker of quality, transparent dog nutrition since the 1960s. Unlike many competitors, BEWITAL has, from the outset, focused on in-house production, full control over the entire process, and the use of food-grade raw materials from local sources. The Belcando brand was launched with the ambition of creating food that combines modern nutrition, scientific insight and natural ingredients – from fresh meat to herbal extracts. Thanks to years of development, innovations (such as Fresh Meat technology, gentle drying and superfood blends) and an expanding portfolio that now includes tins, pouches, treats and flavour-enhancing toppings, Belcando has become one of Europe’s most respected premium dog food brands and continues to lead the way in a holistic approach to canine health.

Benefits of the Belcando brand:

• Family-run production in Germany – even after decades, BEWITAL still keeps the whole production process in Germany and never outsources its recipes, so it retains complete control over quality.

• Its own “fresh meat” technology – one of its biggest strengths is processing fresh meat directly on site, without the need for pre-dried meat meal, which significantly boosts palatability and digestibility.

• Local raw material suppliers – the meat, herbs and plant-based ingredients come mainly from German and European farms, often of food-grade quality.

• Superfood concept – Belcando was one of the first European brands to routinely use superfoods such as chia, amaranth, grape seed and seaweed.

• No artificial colours or flavourings – the brand’s philosophy rules out synthetic flavour substitutes, chemical preservatives and genetically modified ingredients.

• Mastercraft – a unique line – one of the few on the market built almost entirely on fresh meat, supplemented with a small amount of functional ingredients.

• Modern research – Belcando invests in its own laboratory analysis and long-term observation of dogs, fine-tuning its recipes based on real-world results rather than tables alone.

• Sustainability – the company continuously optimises the energy consumption of its production, favours recyclable packaging, and prefers regional raw materials to reduce its transport footprint.
