History and origins of the Brit brand

The Brit story began in 1994, when two partners set up a small pet food production plant in Chrášťany near Prague — at a time when the Czech market for quality pet food was only just emerging. From the outset, the company focused on developing, manufacturing and distributing food made from quality raw materials, and was among the first manufacturers in the sector on the Czech market of the post-revolution era. In 2000, VAFO unveiled a premium dog food range at the Propet trade fair, which customers quickly took to and which remains one of the best-selling lines in the premium and super-premium categories to this day. 2002 brought the first major international success — taking part in the InterZoo trade fair opened the door to foreign markets, and just two years later VAFO was exporting food to seventeen countries. Today, the VAFO group employs more than a thousand people and runs nine production plants and subsidiaries in the Czech Republic, Finland, France, Germany, Sweden, Poland, the United Kingdom, Estonia and Austria. Despite this huge growth, VAFO has kept its family character and original philosophy: making food with love, to give pets the very best possible care.
