History and origins of the Dokas brand

Dokas was founded in 2006 in Essen, Germany, out of a passion for dogs and cats and a determination to create treats that are genuinely valuable for animals — not just tasty, but also nutritionally sound and pure in composition. From day one, the company has stood by a single principle: only truly high-quality products can improve an animal's quality of life and contribute to its wellbeing. This principle still guides every product Dokas brings to market today. Over nearly two decades, Dokas has built a reputation as one of the most trusted producers of natural treats in Europe — thanks to transparent ingredients, strict quality control and constant innovation of its range. As the first company in the pet food industry, Dokas received the Good Rabbit Commendation award for its ethical approach to production.

What makes Dokas treats different from the rest?

Dokas follows a clear philosophy — no shortcuts in the ingredients, no unnecessary chemicals, only natural raw materials that meet food-industry standards. The treats are made exclusively from selected meat, fish, fruit and vegetables, with no artificial preservatives, colourings, flavourings or glycerine, which many treats on the market use to add moisture and extend shelf life. Dokas is also the only treat brand whose products regularly undergo independent quality checks by the world-renowned German SGS Institut Fresenius — a leading European food-quality testing laboratory. The results of these checks are printed directly on the product packaging, so every customer can verify exactly what their pet is getting. Dokas's production facilities also undergo unannounced supplier audits twice a year, verifying the entire production chain from the origin of the raw materials to the finished product.

Who are Dokas treats suitable for?

Dokas for dogs and cats with food allergies — the absence of grains, glycerine, artificial colourings and flavourings makes Dokas a natural choice for allergic and nutritionally sensitive animals. Most treats are single-protein or contain a very limited number of ingredients, minimising the risk of an allergic reaction.

Dokas for overweight dogs — most Dokas treats are low in fat and, thanks to the absence of sugar and glycerine, don't burden the body with unnecessary calories. They're suitable for regular rewarding, even for dogs on a weight-reduction diet.

Dokas for training — mini versions of the treats in small pieces are ideal for intensive training sessions. They're tasty enough to keep a dog motivated, yet small enough not to add up in daily calorie intake.

Dokas for dogs that need long-lasting entertainment — dried ears, ribs, sticks and chew treats keep dogs naturally occupied for a long time while supporting healthy teeth and gums through natural mechanical action.

Dokas for cats — a dedicated range of cat treats includes freeze-dried chicken hearts, chicken gizzards, beef and cod mini steaks, as well as smooth creamy treats. All free from preservatives, colourings and flavourings.

What does the Dokas range offer?

Dokas offers one of the widest ranges of natural treats on the market — dried meat (duck breast, chicken, lamb, venison, rabbit, tuna), freeze-dried treats that preserve maximum nutrients and enzymes, chew treats made from dried ears, ribs and sticks for natural teeth cleaning, mini cubes for training, functional treats enriched with L-carnitine to support fat burning, and insect-protein treats for allergic dogs and owners who prefer sustainable ingredients. For cats, freeze-dried options, smooth creamy treats and thin meat slices are available, all free from additives. You'll find the full Dokas range clearly laid out in the categories below.

Frequently asked questions — Dokas

Are Dokas treats suitable for everyday feeding?

Yes. Thanks to their clean composition, low fat content and the absence of sugar and glycerine, Dokas treats are suitable for daily rewarding. We recommend giving them as a supplement to the main diet, in amounts appropriate to the dog's size and activity level.

What is the SGS Institut Fresenius and why does it matter?

SGS Institut Fresenius is one of the leading independent European laboratories testing the quality of food and pet food. Dokas treats are among the few products on the market that are regularly checked by this laboratory, whose quality seal appears directly on the packaging. It's an independent confirmation that the ingredients listed on the pack match what's actually in the product.

Are Dokas treats suitable for dogs with allergies?

Yes. Dokas treats contain no grains, glycerine, artificial colourings or flavourings — the ingredients most commonly responsible for food intolerances in dogs. Most treats are single-protein, made with just one type of meat, which is ideal for dogs that need an elimination approach to their diet.

Does Dokas also make treats for cats?

Yes. Dokas offers a dedicated range of treats specifically for cats — including freeze-dried chicken hearts and gizzards, beef and cod mini steaks, smooth creamy treats and soft chicken rolls. All free from preservatives, colourings and flavourings.
