Rattan is a climbing palm of the family Arecaceae typical of tropical rainforests. The rhizomes of this plant tend to attach themselves to other trees and grow along with them. In the wild, rattan shoots can reach lengths of up to 240 metres. Although rattan is most often talked about in connection with furniture and decorative items, people forget that it is also a great chew for rodents and rabbits.
