Muzzles are popular for their easy handling, strength and durability. Hygienic care of the muzzle is very simple - just wash it with lukewarm water and leave it to dry.

The correct muzzle size is determined by measuring:
- muzzle width - it should be 1 – 2 cm larger than the width of the base of the snout /cheekbones/
- muzzle depth - it should be measured from the rear edge of the nosepiece to the front edge of the muzzle
- muzzle height - it should correspond to the maximum opening of the dog's mouth when barking. At the same time it allows the dog to breathe well in hot weather.
The obligation for dogs to wear a muzzle is usually governed by local ordinance.
