What should you look for when choosing pâtés for dogs?

Judging by the packaging, they all look tempting, but whether a pâté is genuinely good quality only becomes clear once you check the ingredients. That's what you should base your choice on above all. Just as with dry dog food or tinned food, meat content is what matters most here too. The more meat a pâté contains, the better. It should therefore be listed first in the ingredients, and ideally the type of meat should be clearly specified. Don't be fobbed off with a vague “animal-derived products” listing. Vegetables should come next, followed perhaps by pasta or rice. On the other hand, avoid salt, cereals, flavourings and colourants.
