Rataj BactoEsex Bacterial Water Treatment for 400l

Bactoesex contains beneficial bacteria that act as a clean-up crew in the aquarium. They break down fish waste (ammonia, nitrites) and dead organic matter and convert them into simple substances (nitrates, phosphorus, potassium and CO2), which plants take up as nutrients.

With regular application of Bactoesex to the aquarium, both fish and plants thrive without the need for external intervention (= less chemistry), and algae are also kept to a minimum.

Bacto+

Spores of specific bacterial strains that remove organic substances, ammonia and nitrites from the water.

Nitritstop
This is a starter nutrient for the bacteria - sodium acetate. Without this "starter energy", bacteria in a new aquarium cannot work effectively. The presence of this component is exactly where the revolutionary benefit of BACTOESEX lies. This makes it far more effective than similar products.

Why is this? Nitrobacter bacteria play the most important role in the process of oxidising nitrates to nitrites. These bacteria need specific, energy-rich nutrients for their activity, without which they die. After applying many bacterial starter products, there is no substantial reduction in the aquarium's NO2 nitrite concentration. The reason for the low effectiveness of these products does not lie in a low bacteria content, but in the fact that these bacteria do not have enough nutrients available in the aquarium to survive.

Planta+

A blend of potassium, magnesium and calcium for initial plant nutrition

Dosage:

• Per 100 l of aquarium water,  dose:
• 1g Bacto+
• 1g Nitritstop
• 1g Planta+
• A 0.25 g measuring scoop is included for dosing, so for 100l we dose 4 scoops of each component.

Application

• Dissolve Bacto+ and Nitritstop in about 1l of lukewarm tap water and pour into the aquarium.
• After 2 minutes, repeat the same procedure with Planta+.
• After application, the water in the aquarium will initially turn milky and cloudy from the zeolite carrier, which binds ammonia and other impurities and settles in the filter within 24 hours.

Use

Apply to freshly set-up tanks, and then regularly with every water change and after cleaning filters.

Tip: We recommend Bactoesex when introducing fish into a freshly set-up tank, to avoid an elevated concentration of nitrites, which can cause fish to die.

When to use it?

• For freshly set-up aquariums, apply after filling and once a week for four weeks.
• Always after a water change.
• Always after cleaning the filter.
• When there is an elevated level of NO2 nitrites. Determine the level with the Azotin test.
