First-cut hay (the first mowing) refers to hay cut most often during June, at the time the grasses are flowering. Due to its high content of flowers and ears, it has the highest fibre content. It also contains more hard, long blades, which help small herbivores with wearing down their teeth. First-cut hay plays an essential role especially in the diet of rabbits, who welcome the long blades and handle them with ease. It is also suitable for guinea pigs, degus, chinchillas and other small mammals.

The hay comes from clean, organically managed meadows with BIO certification, cared for like our greatest treasure. The meadows are not chemically treated, but are regularly mulched (weeds are eco-friendly removed on them by cutting with a specially shaped blade) and oversown. As a result, the hay has a balanced ratio of herbs and grasses and contains clover, plantain, fescue, timothy, dandelion and chamomile. After harvesting, the hay is packed by hand – every blade passes through human hands, so no twigs or other unwanted debris remain in the hay. It is also dust-free.
