Tinned Food for Cats
Fussy feline taste buds and the poor fluid intake of little tigers both make tinned food an indispensable part of a cat's diet. Treat your pet to some variety in their everyday diet, or use it to replace dry cat food altogether. Which tin will delight your furry friend the most?

Ingredients as the foundation
Finding the right tinned food for your cat can sometimes feel like detective work, but it's worth the effort. Start with the ingredients and study the label closely. Ingredients are listed in descending order by content, and meat should come first. Its specific type should be stated too. Don't settle for a vague term like “animal-derived products”. The more specifically the ingredients are described, the less likely it is that the manufacturer is trying to hide something. Conversely, with cereals, for example, manufacturers sometimes break the amount down into several entries to disguise just how much of it is actually in there. These are the most common marketing tricks worth knowing about.
Tip: If you spot taurine listed in the ingredients, don't worry. Cats actually need taurine to prevent health problems with their eyesight and hearing. It should definitely not be missing from their diet!
Consider your cat's age and health
For the ingredients to really suit your cat, take her age into account. Kittens who are still developing have different needs to senior cats prone to obesity. Choose according to lifestyle and health issues too. You'll find tins suited to neutered cats, indoor cats or cats with sensitivities. For coat problems, fish-based tins can help (the salmon varieties are especially popular), while game meat tends to be well tolerated in cases of allergies.
