Wolves hunt their prey from the Rocky Mountains of North America, the Arctic tundra, the mountains, forests and rivers of Europe, to the deserts and steppes of Central Asia. This provides them with meat and fish and offal rich in nutrients, but also vegetables, fruit, berries, roots and herbs through the stomach contents of their prey. Cereals are not included here. In this way, the wolf takes in the vitamins, minerals, trace elements, enzymes and secondary plant substances it needs. The individual ingredients of COLD RIVER food were put together by vets to match the natural predatory behaviour of the wolf and the findings on holistic canine nutrition. Wolfsblut dry food is therefore unique.

• Sweet potatoes : According to the American health authority CSPI, these are one of the richest vegetables thanks to their valuable fibre and high content of beta-carotene and vitamin E.
• Chickpeas : Chickpeas are a legume and are rich in healthy nutrients. They contain quality plant protein, iron, B vitamins and calcium.
• Fennel : Fennel is rich in essential oils that are beneficial for digestion and the gut. It also contains vital substances such as potassium, vitamin A, folic acid, vitamin C and silicic acid.
• Jerusalem artichoke : Contains a high proportion of inulin, which acts as a prebiotic and stimulates the growth of healthy bacterial strains in the gut. A healthy gut flora has a positive effect on the immune system.
• Ginseng : Used in Asia as a medicinal plant. The reason is the plant's high nutrient content, which is rich in amino acids, vitamins, copper, iron and calcium.
• Spirulina : This algae is rich in high-quality protein and has a high content of vitamin B12 and iron.
