Milk and other dairy treats are a welcome indulgence for cats. They can also serve as a milk substitute for kittens that, for various reasons, cannot be nursed by their mother. However, ordinary cow's milk isn't suitable for cats, as most cats are lactose intolerant. Giving it to them can lead to poor digestion, bloating, dehydration, vomiting or diarrhoea. If you want or need to give your cat milk, always choose a special variety made specifically for cats. Cat milk has a reduced lactose content and often contains other important vitamins too.
