Fypryst Spot-On Solution XL (Dog over 40kg) 1x4.02ml
Effective against flea infestation for 2 months and against tick infestation for 4 weeks.
Fypryst spot-on is an antiparasitic product for the treatment and prevention of flea, lice and tick infestations, and is used for the treatment and control of flea allergy dermatitis (FAD) in dogs. Effective against flea infestation for 2 months and against tick infestation for 4 weeks. For use in puppies older than 2 months and in dogs weighing more than 2 kg.
Composition:
Fipronil 100 mg in 1 ml of solution.
Characteristics:
Fipronil is an insecticide and acaricide belonging to the phenylpyrazole group. It inhibits the GABA complex by binding to chloride channels, thereby blocking pre- and postsynaptic transfer of chloride ions across cell membranes. This results in uncoordinated activity of the central nervous system and death of insects and mites.
Fipronil has an insecticidal and acaricidal effect against fleas (Ctenocephalides spp), ticks (Rhipicephalus spp, Dermacentor spp., Ixodes spp. including Ixodes ricinus) and lice (Trichodectes spp. A.Felicola spp.) in dogs.
Use:
Target species: dogs.
Treatment and prevention of flea (Ctenocephalides spp.) and tick (Rhipicephalus spp., Dermatocentor spp., Ixodes spp.) infestation in dogs.
Treatment and control of flea allergy dermatitis (FAD) in dogs.
Prevention and treatment of lice (Trichodectes canis) infestation in dogs.
Contraindications:
Due to the lack of available data, do not use the product in puppies younger than 8 weeks and/or weighing less than 2 kg.
Do not use the product in sick animals (systemic disease, fever) or animals recovering from illness.
Do not use in rabbits due to the risk of adverse reactions or even death.
This product is intended for dogs. Do not use it in cats, as this could lead to overdosing.
Adverse reactions:
If licked, brief hypersalivation may occur, caused mainly by the nature of the carrier. Very rare adverse reactions reported after use include transient skin reactions at the application site (skin discolouration, local hair loss, itching, redness of the skin) and generalised itching or hair loss. Exceptionally, hypersalivation, reversible neurological symptoms (hyperaesthesia, depression, nervous symptoms), vomiting or respiratory symptoms have been reported.
Avoid overdosing.
Warning:
Fipronil may adversely affect aquatic organisms. Do not contaminate ponds, watercourses or drains with the product or its empty containers.
Dosage:
Fypryst 67 mg spot-on for dogs:
One single-dose pipette containing 0.67 ml of solution for spot-on application to the skin, for dogs weighing from 2 kg up to 10 kg body weight.
Fypryst 134 mg spot-on for dogs:
One single-dose pipette containing 1.34 ml of solution for spot-on application to the skin, for dogs weighing from 10 kg up to 20 kg body weight.
Fypryst 268 mg spot-on for dogs:
One single-dose pipette containing 2.68 ml of solution for spot-on application to the skin, for dogs weighing from 20 kg up to 40 kg body weight.
Fypryst 402 mg spot-on for dogs:
One single-dose pipette containing 4.02 ml of solution for spot-on application to the skin, for dogs weighing more than 40 kg body weight.
One single-dose pipette containing 4.02 ml of solution for spot-on application to the skin, plus a corresponding smaller single-dose pipette, for dogs weighing more than 60 kg.
This ensures the minimum recommended dose of 6.7 mg fipronil/kg.
Due to the lack of safety studies for the product, the minimum treatment interval is 4 weeks.
Monthly treatment is recommended in cases of a high risk of repeated flea infestation, if the dog is allergic to flea bites, if tick control is required, or when the dog is bathed frequently using hypoallergenic or emollient shampoos. In areas where there is no serious risk of flea and tick infestation, Fypryst spot-on may be applied every two to three months.
Application:
Remove a single-dose pipette from the three-layer sachet. Hold the pipette upright and remove the cap with a twisting motion. Turn the cap around and place it on the other end of the pipette. Push and twist the cap to puncture the seal, then remove the cap from the pipette. Part the animal's coat at the base of the neck in front of the shoulder blades until the skin is visible. Place the tip of the single-dose pipette against the skin and squeeze it several times to empty the contents directly onto the skin at a single spot.
The product has a lasting effect against flea infestation for two months and against ticks for up to 4 weeks, depending on the level of environmental infestation. Fleas are killed within 24 hours of infestation.
