What is Catnip?
As the name itself suggests, catnip is strongly connected with cats. Catnip, or catmint, is a herb that greatly attracts cats and smells good to them, giving them a sense of well-being and relieving tension. While it has only minimal effects on humans and other mammals, its effect on cats has earned it the nickname „cat cocaine“. In the wild, cats roll around in catnip growth, tear and bite the leaves and finally curl up into a ball. This behaviour is caused mainly by nepetalactone, which is released into the air and which cats inhale. Extracts from fresh plants or dried plants, which are, for example, added to toys or applied as a spray to scratching posts, have the same effect. Catnip is harmless to cats, has no side effects and, according to what is known, is not addictive.
Warning: As with all other toys, you should supervise your animal during play. Please check this product regularly for any defects that may arise during use, and if you find any defect, replace the toy before the animal hurts itself.
