Winter Coats for Dogs
Short-haired breeds, small dogs and older dogs lose heat far faster than shaggy Nordic breeds – you'll notice it on a long winter walk before you're even back home. On offer are insulated coats, full-body suits and lighter jumpers and hoodies for changeable weather.

How to choose a winter coat for your dog
- Back length from the withers to the base of the tail is the key measurement. Size is determined by this, not by the dog's weight.
- Coat or all-in-one suit. A coat covers the back and chest, while an all-in-one also protects the belly and legs. Low-slung dogs and small breeds whose bellies sit close to the ground will appreciate a suit.
- Waterproofing. For wet snow and sleet, go for waterproof suits and raincoats; for dry frost, an insulated vest is enough.
- Visibility. Winter walks happen in the dark – look for reflective strips, or put a hi-vis vest on over the coat.
