What is Catnip?
As the name itself suggests, catnip is strongly connected with cats. Catnip, or catmint, is a herb that greatly attracts cats and smells good to them, brings them a good state of mind and relieves tension. While it has only minimal effects on humans and other mammals, because of its effect on cats it is sometimes nicknamed "cat cocaine". In the wild, cats roll around in stands of catnip, tear and bite the leaves and finally curl up into a ball. This behaviour is triggered mainly by nepetalactone, which is released into the air and which cats inhale. Extracts from fresh plants or dried plants, which are e.g. added to toys or applied as a spray to scratching posts, have the same effect. Catnip is harmless to cats, has no side effects and, as far as is known, is not addictive.
Warning: Just as with all other toys, you should supervise your animal during play. Please regularly check this product for any defects that may arise during use, and if you discover any defect, replace the toy before the animal hurts itself.
