What is Catnip?
As the name itself suggests, catnip is strongly connected with cats. Catnip, or catmint, is a herb that greatly attracts cats and smells good to them, brings them a sense of well-being and relieves tension. While it has only minimal effects on humans and other mammals, because of its effect on cats it is sometimes nicknamed „cat cocaine“. In the wild, cats roll in stands of catnip, tear and bite the leaves and finally curl up into a ball. This behaviour is caused mainly by nepetalactone, which is released into the air and which cats inhale. Extracts from fresh plants or dried plants, which are for example added to toys or applied to scratching posts in the form of a spray, have the same effect. Catnip is harmless to cats, has no side effects and, according to known facts, is not addictive.
Warning: As with all other toys, you should supervise your animal during play. Please check this product regularly for defects that may arise during use, and if you discover any defect, replace the toy before the animal hurts itself.
