Rataj Old Bottom Aquarium Substrate 2l
A nutrient-rich substrate placed underneath the top layer of substrate, which is nutrient-free.
A nutrient-rich base substrate. The Staré dno (Old Bottom) base substrate is placed underneath top substrates that do not contain nutrients.
- Staré dno is a graded silica sand enriched with an organo-mineral complex, iron and beneficial bacteria that take part in filtering the water in the aquarium.
- The optimum grain size ensures enough oxygen in the substrate for plants.
- contains beneficial bacteria in the quantity and numbers that would otherwise take several weeks to build up in a freshly set-up tank.
- Kick-starts plant growth.
- Contains iron in a stable, chelated form.
Use
- Do not rinse the substrate before use; pour it straight into the aquarium.
- Work out the required amount of substrate as follows:
- Length in cm x aquarium depth in cm x substrate height in cm:1000 = result in litres
- For example, an aquarium with a base measuring 100 x 40 cm, the required substrate height.
- For base substrates, 1-2 cm is enough.
- 100 x 40 x 2:1000 = 8l of substrate
- The layer of base substrate must be firmly compacted!
- Then cover the base substrate with the top substrate, which should be 2-4 cm thick.
- Nutrients are released from the enriched substrate that freshly planted plants cannot take up entirely. For this reason, change a third of the water twice a week for the first three weeks after setting up the aquarium.
