An eco-friendly aquarium substrate. It consists of clay granules 1-4 mm in size. Compared with commonly used sands, the granules have many advantages. Firstly, they contain thousands of pores inside, which multiply the active cleansing surface many times over (280 m2 per 1 litre of substrate). The size of this surface is directly proportional to the number of useful nitrating and nitrifying bacteria, which are essential for the biological balance in the aquarium.

Aquaclay Ground granules are also lighter than sand grains. The substrate does not compact. Better water flow also ensures an optimal supply of nutrients and an even temperature throughout the substrate profile. These are optimal conditions for the development of aquarium plant roots.

Use: Pour Aquaclay Ground into the aquarium and shape it so that the layer at the front glass is about 5 cm and about 10 cm thick at the back. Fill with water gradually and carefully, so the granules have time to absorb water. A substrate prepared this way needs several weeks to become established and activated by bacteria. It is therefore better to use Aquaclay Ground only as a covering layer. As a base, we use Aquaclay Ground Staré Dno, a substrate enriched with nutrients and active bacteria.
