Fypryst Spot-On Solution (Cat) 1x0.5ml
Effective against flea infestation for 5 weeks and against tick infestation for 2 weeks.
Fypryst spot-on for cats is an antiparasitic product for the treatment and prevention of flea, lice and tick infestations, and is used for the treatment and control of flea allergy dermatitis (FAD) in cats. Effective against flea infestation for 5 weeks and against tick infestation for 2 weeks. For use in cats and kittens over 8 weeks of age and/or weighing more than 1 kg.
Composition:
Fipronil 50 mg in 1 pipette of 0.5 ml.
Characteristics:
Fipronil is an insecticide and acaricide belonging to the phenylpyrazole group. It inhibits the GABA complex by binding to chloride channels, thereby blocking pre- and postsynaptic transfer of chloride ions across cell membranes. This results in uncoordinated activity of the central nervous system and death of insects and mites.
Fipronil shows insecticidal and acaricidal activity against fleas (Ctenocephalides spp), ticks (Rhipicephalus spp, Dermacentor spp., Ixodes spp. including Ixodes ricinus) and lice (Trichodectes spp. A. Felicola spp.) in cats.
Use:
Target species: cat.
Treatment and prevention of flea (Ctenocephalides felis) and tick (Rhipicephalus spp., Dermatocentor spp., Ixodes spp.) infestation in cats.
Treatment and control of flea allergy dermatitis (FAD) in cats.
Prevention and treatment of louse (Felicola subrostratus) infestation in cats.
Contraindications:
Do not use in kittens younger than 2 months and/or weighing less than 1 kg, due to the lack of available data. Do not use on sick animals (i.e. with a systemic illness, fever...) or animals recovering from illness.
Do not use on rabbits due to the risk of adverse reactions and even death.
Do not use in case of hypersensitivity to the active substance or to any of the excipients.
Adverse reactions:
If licked, brief hypersalivation may occur due to the nature of the vehicle.
Among the very rarely expected adverse reactions, transient skin reactions at the application site (fading and loss of hair, itching, redness of the skin) and general itching or hair loss have been reported after use of the product. Exceptionally, hypersalivation, reversible neurological symptoms (hyperesthesia, depression, nervousness) and vomiting have been observed. It can be applied to breeding and pregnant cats and cats in lactation.
Warning:
Fipronil may have an adverse effect on aquatic organisms. Do not contaminate ponds, watercourses or ditches with the product or empty containers.
Dosage:
Apply the contents of 1 single-dose pipette containing 0.5 ml onto the skin between the shoulder blades.
Application:
Route of administration: external application to the skin.
Remove the single-dose pipette from the three-layer sachet. Hold the pipette upright and remove the cap with a twisting motion. Turn the cap around and fit it onto the pipette by the opposite end. Push and twist the cap to puncture its seal, then remove the cap from the pipette.
Part the animal's coat in the area between the shoulder blades so that the skin is visible. Place the tip of the single-dose pipette against the skin and squeeze the pipette several times so that its contents are emptied onto the skin.
A single dose provides protection against flea infestation for up to 5 weeks. The product is effective against ticks for 2 weeks.
Due to the absence of safety studies for the product, the minimum interval between applications is 4 weeks.
